How to care for your Handmade Jewellery

Below are the best tips explained for you, to prolong your pieces for as long as possible. 


  • Remove whilst sleeping
  • Avoid direct contact with lotions & potions, hairsprays and any other chemicals
  • Avoid direct sunlight & heat or cold
  • Store in an airtight box
  • Remove jewellery when showering & swimming
  • Clean the jewellery occasionally
  • Remove jewellery when doing physical activities
  • A handy tip for your bracelets with plastic letter beads on, is to paint them with clear nail varnish to keep them nice and fresh looking

What is Gold Filled?

Gold filled is a layer of gold over a base metal. It has a solid gold outer core and is pressure bonded to a high quality bass metal, which are most commonly brass, and sometimes Copper. Gold filled jewellery pieces do not tarnish and are waterproof.

However it is best to keep them away from chemicals and lotions.

What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling Silver is a material that is again like Gold Filled, layered onto a base metal, usually copper. Sterling Silver isn’t effected by water and will last years if looked after properly.

What is Gold/Silver Plated?

Gold Plated & Silver Plated have a very considerable less amount of Gold/Silver on, which is why it isn’t as durable as Gold Filled & Sterling Silver. However, Gold/Silver Plated pieces can last for a good while if looked after properly.
